Maybe they are preparing for Naruhitos visit or they don´t think it´s necessary to attend the wedding of the 4th in line? They often didn´t attended the weddings of spares (please correct me if I´m wrong).
I never thought Felipe and Letizia were an option for two reasons, they’ve only gone to heirs events in the last years and Letizia in a tiara, gown…in a “decadent” foreign wedding would receive a lot of press in Spain while the authorities are trying to send a message of austerity. I always thought that at least Elena would go, she doesn’t get an 1/8 of Letizia’s attention.
Obviously if this was the wedding of the CPss they would send someone, but saying that they don’t consider the younger daughter of the King important enough when they’ve sent someone to the weddings of Martha-Louise, Joachim(first one), the Earl of Wessex, Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg, Astrid of Belgium… is crap. (Not that what you said was crap, but what hola said is ;) )

The Prince and Prince of Asturias held three audiences in the Palace of La Zarzuela.
A year ago, for their 8th wedding anniversary, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia visited a workshop in Málaga financed by their Hesperia Foundation. Today, one of the groups they received was formed by the mayor of Lorca and representatives from their special needs school. After suffering an earthquake in May 2011, the Hesperia Foundation, presided by the Prince and Princess of Asturias and founded with the inheritance money they received from a Mallorcan businessman, destined 25,000 euros to repair the structure of the school
The other two audiences were also focused on education, one was a representation from Alcorcón’s “Prado de Santo Domingo” High School and the other representatives from the University-Business Foundation of the Valencian University.
